Frequently Asked Questions
WHAT IF I WANT TO JOIN AFTER THE INTENSIVE WEEK?
We take open enrollment for competition teams until September 1st of that season. If you would like to join after September 1st, we recommend taking technique or recreational classes until the next season!
I AM INVOLVED IN OTHER ACTIVITIES, WHAT IS THE ATTENDANCE POLICY?
We understand that many of our dancers are involved in other activities, and we fully support well-rounded students. However, due to the nature of competitive dance, we do have a strict attendance policy.
Being part of a competition team requires a high level of commitment. Each dancer plays an important role, and absences not only affect their individual progress but also impact the entire team and group routines.
To maintain team standards:
-
Dancers must attend at least 85% of all group routine practices
-
No absences are permitted during the week of a competition
-
Attendance and overall commitment are key factors when determining solo, duo, and trio placements for the following season
We encourage families to carefully consider their schedules before committing to the team to ensure their dancer can fully participate and support their teammates.
HOW CAN I GET A SOLO, DUO, OR TRIO?
Solos, duos, and trios are awarded to dancers who meet our criteria. These special routines are a big responsibility and are a representation of our studio.
Families must be in good financial standing (no outstanding balances) with the studio throughout the previous season. If dancers participated in the previous competitive season, they must have:
-
Remained in good standing for attendance to classes and routine times.
-
Remained professional with teachers and staff throughout the season.
-
Shown UC Stars Staff that they are fully committed to dance by supporting their teammates and attending all studio events.
-
Placed top 10, and/or received a Platinum (or higher) adjudication for at least one competition.
3. Dancers who are age Mini-Teen and have not participated in a competition season before ARE NOT ELIGIBLE FOR A SOLO.
WHAT IS THE COMPETITION WEEKEND SCHEDULE?
Competition weekends are listed on our Google Calendar. UC Stars Staff does not determine the competition schedule. This is set by the competition companies. They will send a preliminary schedule 4-3 weeks before, and a detailed competition schedule 2 weeks before. Each competition will be different, but we can usually determine how many days you will need to commit to a competition weekend.
Group Routines- 1 day (usually Saturday or Sundays)
Group Routines & SOLO- 2 days (Usually Friday and Sunday or just Sunday)
